MAG&M welcomes two exhibitions celebrating storytelling and connection
AMBER BOARDMAN: THE PUPPET SHOW & TODD FULLER: SIMPLE LOVE
These exhibitions at Manly Art Gallery & Museum invite audiences to explore the power of storytelling, the nuances of human connection and the vibrancy of the local creative community.
The show also features one-on-one mentorship sessions for fellow artists with Amber Boardman and an artist in conversation afternoon with Todd Fuller.
Amber Boardman: The Puppet Show
Step into an uncanny theatre where ancient myths meet artificial intelligence in Amber Boardman’s The Puppet Show. Boardman transforms the Gallery into a playhouse of oil paintings and hand-modelled vinyl, with motifs of puppets and server stacks prompting visitors to reflect on agency in an age of machines. Despite its technological themes, Boardman’s exhibition is entirely handmade, underscoring the ongoing importance of human creativity.

As part of MAG&M’s 2026 Mardi Gras program, Todd Fuller’s Simple Love offers an intimate, hand-drawn animation centred on Northern Beaches local Adam George. Narrated in Adam’s own voice, the work explores love in its many forms – romantic, familial, and communal – set against the familiar backdrops of Palm Beach, Whale Beach and Turimetta Beach. Fuller’s distinctive drawing technique layers memory and place, producing a moving portrait of contemporary queer life.
