Festival of Froth 2025
The Northern Beaches will again take centre stage in August when Avalon Beach hosts the Festival of Froth – a weekend of world-class bodysurfing, community fun, and ocean-loving good vibes.
Now in its third consecutive year, Northern Beaches Bodysurfers Inc are hosting an International Bodysurfing Association (IBSA) World Qualifier Series (WQS) event, drawing competitors from across Australia and New Zealand. The Avalon WQS is the second of three Australian qualifiers and plays a key role in determining who will represent Australia at the World Tour Finals in France in 2026.
The Festival is a plastic-free event and proudly acknowledges Garigal land and sea. Local businesses, from cafes to accommodation providers, will benefit from visitors staying for the weekend.
Event Details:
- Dates: 22nd to 24th August 2025
- Friday 22nd August – IBSW WQS bodysurfing competition, open mens and womens. All welcome! Swim fins permitted, No hand planes.
- Friday 22 August 6-9pm – Surfers for Climate and NBBS Salty Brains Trivia & Documentary Night: Family-friendly fun at Avalon Golf Club supported by Avalon Brewing.
- Saturday 23 August – NBBS Competition: Age division, including Masters and Tribal Elders (55+) Hand planes and fins permitted. All welcome.
- Saturday evening Festival Party: A buffet dinner by Bush to Bowl and live music from The Urban Legends at the Avalon Beach SLSC Bangalley Bar. Ticketed event: All welcome.
- Sunday 24 August – Bodysurfing Expression session and breakfast at ABSLSC.
