Celebrating 50 Years of the Pittwater Toy Recyclers
PART OF NATIONAL RECYCLING WEEK AND TO CELEBRATE 50 YEARS OF THE TOY RECYCLERS
Terry and his hardworking team of volunteers invite you to their 50th Birthday Toy Drop-Off Day on Saturday 15th November at the HUB, Kimbriki.
The Pittwater Toy Recyclers trace their roots back to 1975, when the Peninsula Senior Citizens Toy Repairers were first established. Their goals were simple but powerful, to create a community-focused organisation, provide a rewarding activity for senior citizens, bring joy to underprivileged children and promote toy recycling.
Beyond salvaging and restoring toys, the group has always been about connection and socialisation. Morning tea is a highlight every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday with party pies, toasted ham and cheese sandwiches, tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits on offer! Sometimes it’s hard to get everyone back to work, but it’s heartwarming to hear them sharing stories and chatting about their holidays. Sitting at the head of the table, you feel as if you’ve travelled all around the world through their adventures.
A 40-foot container is soon to depart for Ghana, filled with toys and more than 50 donated bikes from Clive and the team at Bikes4Life, an incredible contribution that will make a real difference.
Halfway down the hill on the left-hand side, you’ll find the HUB. Stop by, drop off toys and bring the kids and grandkids for a tour of the Toy Workshop. It’s a wonderland of decades of toys given a second life thanks to the dedication of the Toy Recyclers.
DATE: Saturday 15 November
LOCATION: The HUB, Kimbriki
