Barrenjoey Artwalk

Avalon Village will once again be transformed into a vibrant art gallery this
November as the Barrenjoey Artwalk returns for its third year, bringing
exceptional Australian art out of traditional gallery spaces and into the heart of
the community.

Created, produced and run by the Barrenjoey High School P&C, the Artwalk will
see 30 Avalon retailers become exhibition spaces from 7–22 November 2026,
offering visitors the opportunity to discover and purchase works by acclaimed,
established and emerging artists.

Leading this year’s exhibition are two acclaimed Australian artists whose
distinctive styles reflect the diversity of work on offer.

Reg Mombassa, renowned for his iconic Mambo artwork and as a founding
member of Mental As Anything, returns to the Artwalk with his unmistakable
combination of Australian landscapes, suburban imagery and irreverent humour.

Martine Emdur, a two-time Archibald Prize finalist in 2001 and 2003, is
celebrated for her immersive paintings exploring the beauty, mystery and
emotional depths of the ocean. Also recognised by the Portia Geach Memorial
Award and the Mosman Art Prize, her evocative work offers a striking contrast to
Mombassa’s distinctive visual style.

They will be joined by an impressive line-up of artists including Amanda Tye, Ben
Waters, Tan Arlidge and Phil Meatchem, bringing a diverse range of artistic
perspectives to the village.

Now in its third year, the Barrenjoey Artwalk is establishing itself as a distinctive
cultural event, making exceptional art accessible to a wider audience and offering
the opportunity to discover artists and artworks that might otherwise be
encountered only in established galleries.

Visitors can explore the free, self-guided art trail throughout Avalon Village,
discovering an exceptional range of artworks in unexpected spaces. All exhibited
artworks are available for purchase, with a portion of sales supporting Barrenjoey
High School.
