Art exhibition: Soft Weather
Artist and illustrator Nina Maskiell, named recipient of Northern Beaches Council’s Emerging Curator Program for 2026, will present her exhibition, Soft Weather at Curl Curl Creative Space from 1 to 11 October 2026.
The Emerging Curator Program, launched in 2023, funds an early-career curator to produce and curate a group exhibition with support from Council’s arts specialists and mentorship from the curators at Manly Art Gallery & Museum.
Maskiell is an artist, illustrator and emerging curator working at the intersections of art, design and ecology discovering the connections between humans and the natural world, and how art can reshape our understanding of these relationships.
The exhibition Soft Weather brings together eight Sydney-based artists working across painting, photography, ceramics, installation and mixed media.
Soft Weather invites the public to explore the ever-changing conditions of our environment not as a passive backdrop to human experience, but as an active force that shapes how we move through and understand the world around us.
The contributing artists in this exhibition include Allan Giddy, Charli Rose Gerry, Lisa Jones, Gabby Villalba, Julie Edgar, Suzanne Davey, Aurelia King and Susie Dureau.
The exhibition will also feature a hands-on workshop for primary school children (aged 7–9) to be held during the school holidays.
