Les Sculptures Refusées at Q Station 2023
Announcing LSR X 2023 @ Q Station: “Rebellious Art Returns to Q Station”
This year Les Sculptures Refusées Exhibition (LSR X) is returning to Quarantine Station bigger and bolder than ever! Alive with the rebellious spirit of the infamous Refusé shows of the past, Les Sculptures Refusées shows an alternate selection to sculpture by the sea with works chosen by artists and additional invited sculptors supporting sculpture.
LSR X 2023 @ Q Station is a large inspiring indoor and outdoor sculpture event showcasing a range and diversity of Australian talent. This year’s show has familiar faces with the return of some inaugural artists, invitees and our new refusées.
“It is exciting to work with a diverse selection of emerging and established artists”, said co-founder Tania McMurtry. “To see these artists responding to site and exhibiting together with limited support and no end prize, illuminates the immense passion and comradery prevalent in the artist community”.
Curator Tamsin Salehian said “We want to support the development of artistic work that showcases the artists voice alongside a sensitivity to this particular place – which is an ecologically and culturally important place, so that artworks become a meeting place between the audience and ideas, whether they are ecological, formal, traditional, experimental or cultural”.
Opening 21st October through to 12th November 2023, the public will be able to walk through the historic Q Station, located in the stunning North Head Sanctuary precinct at the entrance of Sydney Harbour, and view contemporary art works by some of Australia’s best sculptors.
Artists for 2023 include the renowned Ayako Saito, Orest Keywan, Camie Lyons and Dave Horton alongside emerging artists Em Ingram, Rosie Goslett-King and Katie Stewart.
Q Station is located at 1 North Head Scenic Drive, Manly. Find out how to get there.
Free Entry and Parking.
Les Sculptures Refusées needs volunteers to help sit the indoor show on these days. Info on how to signup on their website.
