International Women’s Day 2024 @ Manly Pavilion Supporting Northern Beaches Women’s Shelter

Join us for our annual event to celebrate International Women’s Day to connect, educate and laugh!  Our former President Charlotte Rimmer will be talking to local superstars Kim Smee of Manly Observer and Marilyn Annecchini of Pilu at Freshwater in an inspiring panel discussion.

Kim Smee owner and editor at Manly Observer

We know Kim as the founder and editor of Manly Observer, who lives locally with her family.  But what makes her tick and how does she find the hours in the day?!  A former newspaper editor, local government reporter, radio news producer, media advisor and PR account director, with a cheeky humour to boot!  Kim has found her way in to our hearts and homes with her ongoing commitment to keeping us informed.

Marilyn Annecchini co-owner of @Pilu at Freshwater

With awards galore Pilu is synonymous with laid back elegance.  Since 2004 Marilyn has been the restaurateur, mentoring staff and developing a front-of-house team, all of which has helped the restaurant maintain a 2-hat rating in The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide since 2005.  Outside of this, Marilyn is a founding member of Women and Restaurants, actively participated in many restaurant associations and along with husband Giovanni Pilu has raised a family locally.  Marilyn has been giving us the best of Sardinian food, wine and hospitality for over two decades in the beachside weatherboard beauty and we look forward to learning how she keeps all the ‘hats’ in the air!

Through our silent auction and raffle this event will support the Northern Beaches Women’s Shelter. Since 2010 they have opened their doors to over 590 homeless women and children across Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

NBWS is not simply a place to sleep. Along with emergency accommodation, NBWS provides occupational therapies and assistance with accessing support for finances, employment, education, healthcare, legal advice, and permanent housing.
