Group A

Georgia Ryburn

Liberal Party

Why should we vote for you?

I am fighting for lower rates, better services and stopping the waste. I am fighting for better value for your money on Council.
I want to support businesses and communities bounce back from the impacts of COVID. In particular, I want to revitalise Manly and turbocharge the Corso into a thriving, modern retail and hospitality CBD - cutting red tape and outdoor dining fees, and boosting tourism into the area.

I’m a fourth-generation local who deeply cares about the Northern Beaches, our environment and our communities. I will bring a new and energised voice to Council.

Why should we vote for you?

I was first elected to Council in 2017. A qualified director (GAICD) with extensive experience in Finance, Risk, Strategy & Governance, I provids professional oversight of Council’s finances - crucial skills that provide accountability and transparency for this $5Bn organisation.

I have a track record as a strong advocate for the local community – be it buses, the tunnel, the environment, local infrastructure, or youth issues. I recently assisted HSC students to create and deliver the “study bubble” for all students of NSW.

My day job is Chief Operating Officer of UNICEF Australia and I am a mother of three teenage girls.

Why should we vote for you?

Led by Candy Bingham, Good for Manly is an independent group of community professionals.
I (Candy) have served 8 years on Council, three as Deputy Mayor and have initiated many good things for Manly including an iconic new Life Saving Club building for Manly Beach (planning now underway); upgrades at Clontarf, Little Manly & Nth Harbour Reserves; the rezoning of land at Manly Dam protecting the bushland from redevelopment and upgrades of playgrounds, tidal pools, ovals, footpaths & new pedestrian crossings.

The group's focus includes major clean energy initiatives towards Net Zero by 2030 and the transformation of Manly Town Hall into a performing arts centre.

John Kelly

Independent Party

Why should we vote for you?

We are proud to be the only true Independent candidates running for Manly Ward.
We want an increased focus on our local community who are the fabric of what makes Manly Ward unique; residents, sporting and lifesaving clubs, cultural groups, service clubs and organisations, frontline service providers, businesses, and other volunteer-based organisations. Manly is the gateway to the Beaches, attracting 3M plus tourists each year. This puts pressure on residents, so we need better services and support; parking, rubbish, cleaning, safety.

Manly has been marginalised since amalgamation. Council needs change and we will fight for it where others haven't.

Why should we vote for you?

Labor wants to put community, environment and affordability at the heart of Council. We will oppose the Beaches Link tunnel and advocate for better integrated public transport including saving the Hop, Skip and Jump service.
We will protect and improve our natural environment by taking strong actions on climate change by improving our urban tree canopy and assisting residents and businesses to transition from fossil fuels.

Labor will advocate for more affordable and social housing along with more childcare services to reduce living costs. To aid businesses in their recovery we will support a temporary removal of the rate increase imposed on them.

Labor

Why should we vote for you?

I am committed to improving liveability through stopping overdevelopment, enhancing urban amenity, and increasing usable green spaces. Green spaces with enhanced tree canopy that improves air and water quality, allowing access for everybody to the natural environment.

This creates improved micro-climate temperatures and provides enriched social and aesthetic aspects. Playgrounds with increased tree canopy to provide shade, create habitat for native animals, and improves gross motor development of our children.

Cr Sue Heins

Your Northern Beaches Independent Team

Why should we vote for you?

My passion is communities and the environment. Within the suburbs of Curl Curl ward there are diverse communities and the recent lockdowns have proven how important our open spaces, playgrounds and beaches are. We need to work on restoring the damage that has occurred from locals who have loved many spaces to “death”. So many businesses affected by the lockdowns need support to revitalise we can help businesses reattract clientele back.

Council works across many environmental issues but I would work hard to make sure our tree canopy increases as Curl Curl Ward has the least amount of canopy across the Northern Beaches.

Why should we vote for you?

I will ensure that Council is delivering good outcomes for the community and environment. I bring to this role both local knowledge from having lived across the Northern Beaches for over 20 years, as well as professional understanding from my career as an environment and planning lawyer, advising on issues including development, waste, biodiversity.

As a new Local Environmental Plan for the Northern Beaches is being prepared which will shape development in our area for the next 15 years, my background makes me perfectly suited to being involved in shaping a new Local Environment Plan that delivers a thriving and sustainable local area.
