Senior police officer charged over shoplifting in Dee Why

A senior police officer has been charged with alleged stealing offences in Dee Why.

On 20 June 2024, a 43-year-old man was arrested during a shoplifting operation at a store on Howard Avenue, Dee Why.

Subsequent inquiries revealed the man was a serving senior constable attached to a specialist command.

On Wednesday 21 August 2024, a Court Attendance Notice for the offence of shoplifting was served on the man’s legal practitioner.

Police will allege in Court the he stole items which amounted to approximately $120.00.

He is due to appear at Manly Local Court on Wednesday 2 October 2024.

The officer’s employment status is currently under review.
