Fitness for new mums: reader offer from Manly’s Buggy Bootcamp

Bootcamp after birthing a bub? It’s not as loopy as it sounds. We popped down for a complimentary session with the Manly mum fitness experts Buggy Bootcamp along the beachfront, with kid in tow, on a perfect winter’s day and were seriously impressed with the set up.

We were also relieved: relieved the focus was on injury prevention and pelvic floor training; impressed my abdominal wall was checked for separation despite it being four years since I gave birth, and relieved to see anyone with injury was given alternative options. It felt supportive, rather than combative, despite its bootcamp label.

I loved what they stood for and accepted their offer to partner with us commercially.

The team is offering all Manly Observer readers (well, anyone who sees this story and knows the code really) 30% off their first month’s membership as well as a free trial session this month (it’s June, for tired mums that can’t remember if they are wearing pants let alone what month it is.)

Buggy Bootcampers meet down at the Manly beachfront for a social, effective and safe post-natal exercise. They are baby and kid friendly with all trainers total experts in rocking bubs while helping you get your sweat on.

“At Buggy Bootcamp we are not about weight loss or fitting back into the pre-baby jeans, we are about all the other health and well-being benefits group exercise brings to that tough first year of Motherhood.”

Founder Carly Steggles said they modify for post-natal concerns such as pelvic floor weaknesses and abdominal separation and ease you back into exercise in line with their ‘Safe Return to Exercise’ and ‘MumSafe’ accreditations.

“At Buggy Bootcamp we are not about weight loss or fitting back into the pre-baby jeans, we are about all the other health and well-being benefits group exercise brings to that tough first year of Motherhood,” Carly said. We, along with coffee, will help you survive the bleary-eyed crazy newborn or toddler days! We’re mums too, believe me – we get it!”

Hour long sessions run every week day (9am Mon/Fri, 8.30am and 9.30am Tues/Wed/Thurs) and the best bit is, that as a member you don’t ever have to book a session in advance. You just turn up when you fancy and enjoy the ocean views (and burpees). Magic for mums who aren’t sure what day it even is, let alone where they are meant to be!

Go along for a free trial session – they’ll start with a few post-natal recovery questions/screening as well as teaching you how to correctly engage your core and then get you going!

To the end of June, Buggy Bootcamp is offering all Manly Observer mums 30% off their first month’s membership. Enter code OBSERVER30 when you sign up for a free trial at the link below and the discount will be applied if you then subsequently join up.
