Two of the best bands on the beaches will close The Bally’s 2024 Live Music Program on Friday November 8. This will be the last show for this year, with the Club’s music program resuming on Valentine’s Day, 2025.
This last show promises to be a special one, featuring brotherly duo, LamBros from Newport and Avalon’s The Mezcaltones. Both bands are musically great but also put a heavy emphasis on FUN.
LamBros will open the show at 8:00pm. Comprising brothers Connor & Harry Lambrou, LamBros play a unique brand of original music encompassing Rock, Indie, Blues, Soul, Funk and Folk. The brothers seamlessly blend genres through their matchless use of sounds such as the didgeridoo, distorted acoustic guitar, harmonica, raw vocals and a thumping homemade hybrid drum-kit.
LamBros has performed alongside multi-platinum artists Larkin Poe, Tones and I, Thirsty Merc and Mental as Anything, and has appeared at numerous festivals across the nation, notably Bluesfest Byron Bay. The band’s first single ‘Do Something’ reached No. 1 on the national AMRAP charts, while their latest single, ‘Blues Within’, is currently being streamed in no less than 52 countries around the world!
Dressed as four Punk cowboys and two sultry looking Mexican Senoritas, THE MEZCALTONES look like something out of a Quentin Tarantino movie. They mount the stage to the thunderous theme from ‘The Magnificent Seven’, setting the tone for what’s to come.
The band’s original songs have an Alt-Country flavour with rich Cowboy guitar sounds… but they also reach into the realms of ’60s Surf Rock (think Dick Dale and Link Wray). It’s like Pulp Fiction meets Spaghetti Western. You’ll hear songs from Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez films, next to others that pay homage to Santana, Waylon Jennins and Los Lobos.
The show is slick, edgy, almost dangerous, as lead singer ‘Col Padre’ belts out tunes in a voice limed with tequila, while next to him, the eye-catching ‘Mimi’ simultaneously performs exotic dance moves, full of contagious energy and a bag of tricks that includes percussion, masks, scarves, belts, ribbons, fans and skeleton costumes complete with Day of the Dead makeup!
THE MEZCALTONES have performed eight times at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, at 2024 Blues on Broadbeach, the Groundwater Country Music Festival, Sydney Blues & Roots, Dashville Skyline Festival, Blue Mountains Music Festival and Greazefest to name a few. They have released four studio albums and are currently working on their fifth. Their most recent album ‘Agave Soirée’ entered the Australian Blues and Roots airplay charts at No. 7 before spending five months embedded in the Top 20.
This will be a great night out at The Bally, dancing to two great local acts. Tickets are still available at: https://events.humanitix.com/the-mezcaltones-lambros
