The Other Environmental Art Exhibition – Opening Night
The Other Environmental Art Exhibition, open 15 – 25 August 2024 at Gallery 109 in Manly, explores art that expands our capacity to connect with climate change and environmental issues.
The exhibition includes 12 visionary artists that have created work that specifically addresses the climate emergency and the compelling and urgent exploration of our contemporary ecological landscape.
Running alongside the Northern Beaches Environmental Art and Design Award, this show brings together many respected artists, NAS alumni and NSAP finalists including Alexandra Mills, Freya Jobbins, Louise Fowler Smith (artist and founder, Tree Veneration Society), Catriona Pollard (Artist and TEDx speaker) and more.
Curated by Louise Nade, the idea for this exhibition sprouted when her work, (12 months in the making), ‘Assorted Conserves – A collaboration with the residents and visitors of the Northern Beaches’ was rejected from ‘The Northern Beaches Environmental Art and Design Award’, and her strong vision to share her findings with the community who unknowingly collaborated to create the work.
This must see exhibition highlights art’s role in a educating people’s understanding of environmental issues and is a call to action that presents solutions in a compelling and accessible way.
