The Gyuto Monks of Tibet at The Palms & Checkers
GYUTO MONKS OF TIBET RETURN TO AUSTRALIA
For the first time since 2016, the Gyuto Monks of Tibet are returning to Australia, bringing their extraordinary overtone chanting, sacred rituals, and the creation of intricate sand mandalas to Sydney. The monks, who fled Tibet in 1959 and re-established their monastery in Dharamsala, India, are recognised worldwide for their powerful chanting and their role in preserving Tibetan culture.
This rare two-week program invites audiences to attend daily prayers, guided meditations, tantric art workshops, and to observe the creation of the Sand Mandala of Yamantaka. All sessions are open to the public by donation, with no bookings required for daily events.
A highlight will be the Chants of Compassion Concert on Saturday 21 September – an evening of sacred overtone chanting unlike anything else. A $30 donation is requested for this special event, with RSVPs via text to 0412 124 678. All donations go directly to the Gyuto Monks and provide vital support to their monastery.
