The Bloody Long Walk

Over 1200 people are expected to walk from Palm Beach to Manly, as part of the Blood Long Walk.

They are raising awareness and funds for Australians affected by mitochondrial disease (mito).

The 35km costal walk brings together families, friends, workplaces and community teams to support the Mito Foundation and people living with mito.

Mito is a debilitating genetic disease that stops the body’s cells from producing enough energy.

It can cause organ failure and even premature death.

There are currently no cures and very few effective treatments.

Around 70 Australian children born this year will develop the life-threatening form of mito. Most children diagnosed will die in the first five years of life.

DATE: Sunday 02 August

LOCATION: Start: Governor Philip Park, Palm Beach. End: Manly Promenade
