Return Serve: Celebrating service, sport and community
A CHANCE FOR CLUB MEMBERS AND THE LOCAL COMMUNITY TO SHOW GRATITUDE TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE GIVEN SO MUCH TO PROTECT OUR FREEDOMS
Collaroy Tennis Club, together with the Northern Beaches Veteran Wellbeing Centre, is hosting a free community event for former and currently serving members of the ADF and their families.
Return Serve is seen by the Collaroy club as one small step in helping veterans to connect and thrive in their local community, using the wonderful sport of tennis as a catalyst for wellbeing and social connection.
Return Serve will have a slightly solemn start, with a bugler welcoming attendees, followed by a short ‘Thank You to Veteran’ ceremony. But then the emphasis will be on fun for the rest of the afternoon with activities including a Round Robin tennis tournament, POP Tennis and Table Tennis, as well as golf putting and Cornhole. Prizes will be on offer for each activity as well as in a free raffle.
Live Music duo ‘Modern Vintage’ will entertain from around 3pm and free food and refreshments will be served throughout the day, including a classic Bunnings BBQ, courtesy of our friends at Bunnings Narrabeen.
At a closing presentation, specially struck medallions will be presented to the individual court winners and runners-up of the Tennis Tournament, along with prizes for the winners of each activity and raffle prizes donated by local businesses.
