Otello
If you’re not a huge fan of opera but would like to experience it once, (a trip to the Sydney Opera House is worth it alone) go see Otello.
Composed in 1887 by one of the greatest of all time, Giuseppe Verdi, more than a decade after writing Aida and his supposed retirement, Otello encompasses all the drama, the stupendous costumes and dramatic set, without the confusion of a complicated story line.
It’s 19th Century Cyprus and Governor Otello (Yonghoon Lee), is manipulated by his ensign, Iago (Marco Vratogna), into believing his wife Desdemona (Karah Son), is having an affair with Captain Cassio (Virgilio Marino). The trap is set and the hullaballoo begins.
