Ocean Festival Cove Cleanup at Manly Cove
Ocean Festival Cove Cleanup is free community event at Manly Cove on the first Sunday of every month between 9am-11am in collaboration with Operation Straw and Eco Adventure
Background details:
- Ocean Festival Cove Cleanup has been running since 2018 and is the longest running sample of microplastics in Australia. Due to Covid and a lack of volunteers, there is a huge backlog of samples dating back to 2020 that sit unprocessed in the office.
- We are wanting to process these as quickly as possible to enable AUSMAP to publish a paper using the Manly Cove data.
- Event has its own kit and its own AUSMAP flag.
What happens at the event?
- Before 9am: Meet on the grass patch outside the Manly Art Gallery and Museum.
- 9am: Briefing and gear up
- 9:10-10am: Cleanup
- 10-10:30am: Debris sort, count, document and disposal.
- Optional – After 10:30am: Networking, pack down, and disband to enjoy the rest of the day.
