Manly-Warringah Choir – Armed Man
The Manly-Warringah Choir will be performing Armed Man at St John’s Church on Sunday 20th November at 3pm.
The Armed Man was composed by Karl Jenkins in 1999 and dedicated to the victims of the war in Kosova. It is a strongly anti-war work based on the Catholic Mass with texts from several sources, secular and sacred; from different periods in history and from different cultures. The narrative is textually and musically dramatic, charting not only the horrors, but also the futility of war. The final songs are a joyful and powerful cry for Peace – “for a thousand years”.
Manly-Warringah Choir, orchestra and soloists.
