Jack McCoy Australian Surf Film Fest

Showcasing the ‘greatest surf films of all time’.

Thursday 11 – Sunday 14 September 2025

Over the past twelve months Jack McCoy had been busy working behind the scenes to create the  ‘Jack McCoy Australian Surf Film Fest’ as his legacy piece for the global surf community. The inaugural festival will take place in Sydney, the birth place of Australian surfing, and then expand Nationally and Internationally in 2026.

As always with McCoy, this will not be just another surf film festival. His aim for the festival was for it to become the most prestigious surf film festival in the world with a pretty simple strategy – showcase the GREATEST SURF FILMS OF ALL TIME!

The curated line up will honour each era of surf film making – from the founding fathers, right through to modern day classics. The festival will also feature a tribute to McCoy, as well as a special Hall of Fame induction ceremony paying homage to the greats of the industry.

“Dad wanted to ensure he left behind a platform to celebrate and unite the industry, whilst  reinvigorating surf culture around the world. As he always said, surf films are made to be seen on the big screen!” says Indiana Campbell, McCoy’s daughter

“Throughout his career his main objective was to share the spirit of aloha by gathering the surf tribe to share the stoke. He wanted the festival to inspire each generation to come together, talk story and celebrate the art of surfing.” Says Campbell

Prior to passing, McCoy had shortlisted his top 20 films of all time from each era of surf films so we can’t wait to see what he has scheduled for this year’s festival and years to come.
