Heart of the Earth Festival

CELEBRATING WAYUU ART & CULTURE

Come on a journey with us into the vibrant life and culture of the Indigenous Wayuu tribe of La Guajira, Colombia.

Sponsored by the Northern Beaches Council, this two-day event will showcase traditional Wayuu art and culture, and immerse you in the Colombian culture with weaving, music, dance, cuisine, and film, with all profits raised invested into community-led projects in La Guajira, Colombia.

  • 1.30PM Colombian cultural opening ceremony
  • 2PM Creative activities (weaving & children’s drawing)
  • 3PM Film Screening of award-winning documentary
  • 5PM Free Salsa class with Manly Salsa
  • 6PM Social Salsa Dancing
  • 7PM DJ Oro Ana with AfroColombian Indigenous beats
Sunday 16 August
  • 10AM – 3PM Open Gallery
  • 10.30AM Traditional Arepas and tinto (Colombian corn bread and coffee)
  • 11AM Dance Performance & kids face painting
  • 12.30PM Film screening of Aluna (continued)
  • 1PM Movement and dance!
