Dying to Know Day - What is Community Palliative Care? Event

Dying to Know Day – What is Community Palliative Care? at Northern Beaches Community Palliative Care Service Cottage

What is Community Palliative Care?

Dying to Know Day is designed to encourage all Australians to develop new knowledge and attitudes about how to deal with death, dying and bereavement and support each other at the end of life.

Join us for a panel discussion on Thursday 8th August from 10:30-12:30pm at NBPCS.

Our panel will consider questions such as – What is Palliative Care? What does a specialist Community Palliative Care service provide? What is a good death? How do we participate in a compassionate community to support those who are nearing the end of life? What is Advanced Care Planning?

Our hope is that in opening this conversation, you will be encouraged to adopt a more proactive and confident approach to discussing death and dying. Earlier decision making and greater awareness of end-of-life preferences enable people to work together with health professionals to meet their unique needs and ensure a ‘good death’.

Our Panel:

  • Suzanne Sara, CNS, RACF Liaison nurse
  • Jon San Martin, CNC, Community Palliative Care
  • Leanne Broadhead, Volunteer Manager, Health
  • Alison Bradshaw, Social Worker, NBPCS
  • Chaired by Ann-Marie Perry, Service Manager, Community Palliative Care

Join us for morning tea from 10:30am-12:30pm, Thursday 8th August at Northern Beaches Palliative Care Service (cottage next to the dog park), 18 Coronation Street, Mona Vale.
