About 9.30pm on 31 December 2024, police were called to a home at Kinka Road, Terrey Hills regarding a break and enter in progress. Responding police searched the area and did not find any offenders. The investigation revealed great lengths were taken to conceal the crime including the cutting of power to the home. A significant number of items were stolen and while at the scene police were alerted to another break-in at a nearby home on Kinka Road, Duffy’s Forest. No arrests were made.
The homes were forensically examined and police suspect the two incidents are linked. Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incidents, particularly anyone with dashcam footage that might have driven past the homes at the times.

Suspicious bush fire at Wakehurst Parkway Frenchs Forest
About 12:40 am on 1 January 2025, a Police helicopter detected a fire in bushland near the Warringah Aquatic Centre in Frenchs Forest. Police, Fire & Rescue NSW, and the Rural Fire Service attended and eventually located the fire approximately 2km into the bushland between the Warringah Aquatic Centre and the Wakehurst Parkway. The fire was about 70m x 50m wide and burning at a slow pace back towards the Wakehurst Parkway.
The Rural Fire Service commissioned a fire investigator to survey the fire who concluded it was suspicious. There was a small fire in a nearby location the previous evening and there appeared to be multiple ignition points.
This is a hot and high-risk time of year for fires. If caught, offenders face up to 10 years imprisonment. Police are appealing for information about anyone involved in lighting the fire.
