Two people are in hospital after a police pursuit from Manly ended in a crash in St Ives on Saturday afternoon.
Officers from the Northern Beaches Police Area Command spotted a sedan on Pittwater Road in North Manly yesterday, 4 April 2026, around 4:15pm and attempted to pull it over, following reports it had been involved in a nearby incident. When the driver failed to stop, a pursuit began.
The chase pursued through Warringah Road, Wakehurst Parkway, and Pittwater Road before police called it off near Mona Vale over safety concerns. The sedan then continued along Mona Vale Road and struck an unmarked police vehicle near the intersection of Richmond Avenue at St Ives.
Both occupants of the sedan – a 33-year-old man and woman – were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in stable condition. No officers were hurt.
A crime scene has been established, and investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit are now examining the circumstances of the collision.
The driver will face court tomorrow charged over the matter.
Police say on his release from hospital earlier today (Sunday 5 April 2026), the man was taken to Chatswood Police Station, where he was charged with four offences Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously; Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous; Licence expired more than two years ago, and; Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen not motor vehicle.
The 33-year-old was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Local Court 7 tomorrow (Monday 6 April 2026).
